Re: ITV racing
There is no one with a better knowledge of WORLD racing than Cunningham he is in a league of his own.... not sure re Chapman... he knows his onions... I just feel he's wasted in the betting ring... he should be asking the questions... that's his forte.... agree regarding Lord Snooty (Nick Luck).... best front man on TV for me... he'll be snapped up by the Yanks they love him over there

Takashi Miike 7:10 Wed Jan 4
Re: ITV racing
Cunningham's the best racing pundit on any channel. A usually spot on, very knowledgeable and not scared to upset the biggest names face to face. Chapman's just a comedy act that's not really needed, plus he's also a yid cunt

Re: ITV racing
Thought it was awful. Why weren't they in a studio?

Chamberlin has zero charisma compared to Nick Luck. With McCoy and Fitzgerald there why do they need the opinion of a shit jockey like Luke Harvey?

Chapman was coming over as a try too hard knob. If they want to go down that route they may as well get the real deal and get Big Mac back.

Too gimmicky with Pendleton, Juicy Lucy and "getting to know the jockeys better"

Missed the informative opinions of particularly Cunningham and also Jim McGrath.

By far the worse bit was the "analysis" during the race. Shut the fuck up until the race is over. I can see the race for myself and we have a commentary. Too much is happening at once.

Still, early days, it was shit weather and a shit card. Better improve quick for Cheltenham.

Yeah agree Frankie son love the NBC coverage of the US racing.... can't beat Jerry Bailey...

ITV today was a new show... new audience... imagine a new people getting into the game... so kids gloves regarding betting odds etc i can understand... Chapman won't be everyones cup of tea but he'll grow on a lot... just like John Mc' he don't give a fuck and has been pulled up plenty of times by ATR's... give me him over Tanya anytime.... got to agree re the weather girl.... cant understand that at all...even if she is a looker

Re: ITV racing
The BBC always did racing the best, no gimmicks, some nostalgia and great commentary.

NBC out here use the BBC model, great coverage.

Channel 4 since the revamp and ITV all Reeks of Andys tactics bus

Re: ITV racing
I thought it was embarrassingly bad. Presenters seemed to assume the audience knew nothing about racing.

And what was hair or no hair all about.

Cringeworthy.

Re: ITV racing
yes, too many presenters. why the fuck alice plunkett was there today is beyond me? and does mccoy really need to keep injecting his face with shit? he looked like lesley ash's brother today

"What bugged me was having a gold cup/ national winning jockey asking a former cyclist how she would approach a fence / look to cope with the ground"

Spot on, I said the same thing. Seemed like there were a few too many people involved. Do they really need a weather girl on there?

Re: ITV racing
i liked Tanya and i don't need to be fucking told that if i put a pound on at 20/1 that i would get £21 back .

Re: ITV racing
I'm no fan of Chapman but he's miles better than Tanya Stevenson

What bugged me was having a gold cup/ national winning jockey asking a former cyclist how she would approach a fence / look to cope with the ground.

That would be like her asking me how to cope with a stage of the tour de France just because I've done the Ride London

I'll have a bet but it's more about the horses, jockeys, trainers and owners for me.... love the history of the sport... it's all about the balance and for me today it was just fine... promising start

Re: ITV racing
I thought it was a decent start in poxy weather. one thing they should ditch though is interrupting Richard Hoiles during his commentary. analyse the race after its finished FFS

Re: ITV racing
The sport would obviously get less viewers but one of the criticisms levelled at C4 in the last few years was there was too much focus on gambling and not enough on the actual sport!

Re: ITV racing
Obviously not as many Bertie, but I don't bet on the horses but still like to watch them race, as I just like the animals.

I know people who don't really like football but watch it as they've got money on it, so its the same with most sports I'm sure.

bertie 7:04 Sun Jan 1
Re: ITV racing
Would anyone watch it if betting wasn't allowed, probably not many.

lincshammer 6:47 Sun Jan 1
Re: ITV RACING
From what I saw it was a promising start. C4 had gone massively stale at the end with McGrath and Cunningham being way past there best for me! Getting Chapman on board is a good shout I reckon.

1964.... Racing is the 2nd most populated sport in this country after football... so why should it not get coverage on mainstream ?? Just cause you don't like it plenty do.... or have you just got the 4 channels on your TV ??
